چکیده

Effects of tillage and crop rotation o n nematode densities in tropical corn (Zea mays L. Pioneer Brand X304C) were determined in each of three seasons (1990-1992) in north Florida. Treatments in the factorial experiment consisted of conventional or n o tillage and rotation with sorghum (Sorghum bicolor [L.] Moench) or soybean (G/ycine max [L.] Merr.). Tillage and rotation treatments were maintained for 14 previous years, including the 1989 season. In subsequent corn crops (1990-1992). effects of treatments depended on nematode species. The most serious nematode pest in the site, the root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita [Kofoid &White] Chitwood) was lower in plots rotated t o sorghum and remained so for three seasons, but was no t affected by tillage practices.

Effect of crop rotation and tillage on nematode densities in tropical corn.

Effects of tillage and crop rotation on nematode densities in tropical corn (Zea mays cv. Pioneer X304C) were examined in a factorial experiment with two rotation crops and two tillage practices (no-till vs. conventional-till), conducted in each of three seasons (1990-1992) in north Florida. The rotation treatments consisted of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor cv. DeKalb BR64) or soybean (Glycine max) ...

Sustainable approaches to the management of plant-parasitic nematodes and disease complexes.

Physical, chemical, and biological factors of soil may reduce damage caused by plant-parasitic nematodes. Suppression of plant-parasitic nematodes is particularly challenging in soils in which there are short crop sequences, sequential susceptible host crops, or infestations of multiple nematode species. In southern Indiana, a watermelon production system involving rotations with soybean and co...

Long-term tillage and residue management effect on soil compaction and nitrate leaching in a Typic Haploxerert soil

A field experiment was conducted to compare the effects of long-term tillage and cropresidue management on some physical properties and nitrate leaching of a Typic Haploxerertsoil under winter wheat (Triticum vulgare L.)-soybean (Glycine max L.) double-croppingsystem. The tillage systems consisted of conventional tillage with stubble (CT1), conventionaltillage with stubbles burned (CT2), heavy ...

Crop rotation and tillage effects on selected soil physical properties of a Typic Haploxerert in an irrigated semi-arid Mediterranean region

Physical, chemical and biological attributes of soil surface are significantly affected by tillage practices and crop rotation. The objective of this study was to determine the short-term (2006-2009) effects of conventional and conservational tillage practices on selected soil physical properties of a heavy clay soil under two wheat-corn and wheatlegume rotation in a semi-arid Mediterranean...

Nematode trophic structure in conventional and no-tillage agroecosystems.

The effect of tillage intensity on nematode community trophic structure and the role of nematodes in the regulation of decomposition rates in agroecosystems were examined. Conventional (CT) and no-tillage (NT) agroecosystems were sampled monthly for 1 year. Tillage affected nematode trophic structure and total abundance. Monthly mean densities of bacterivorous, fungivorous, and total nematodes ...
